Being able to run a sub-25 minute 5k is a goal for many runners. Here are some essential tips to help you reach your goal.

#1 Perfect your form Keep your gaze upright and forward, don't let your arms cross your body, don't over stride and keep your knees soft and bent when running.

#2 Warm up A warm up on race day is essential to prepare your body and mind. Aim to do a light jog followed by some dynamic stretches to loosen your muscles. You may also want to include running drills.

#3 Practice pacing You need to be running at a pace of 8:03 minutes per mile to achieve a sub-25 minute race time. Practice pacing during training.

#4 Follow a training plan A well-rounded 5k training plan will include a range of runs and workouts to get you ready for race day. Follow a training plan that is suited to your fitness levels, goals and running experience.

#5 Accelerate! As soon as you start your race you'll want to accelerate to your goal race pace. Check your running watch to see you're not running too fast.
